Who we are
Cinemaxxing is a free guide to premium-format and repertory screenings in Austin and other Texas cities. It's run by Alex Walker and Alex Anderson in Austin, Texas ("Cinemaxxing," "we," "us"). This policy covers cinemaxxing.co and our daily and weekly emails.
The short version: we collect your email address if you subscribe, plus basic data about site visits. We don't sell your information or use it for targeted ads. You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information at any time.
What we collect
We collect only what it takes to send the emails and run the site:
- When you subscribe: your email address, whether you picked the daily or weekly email, and when you signed up.
- When you visit: each page loads a tiny image (a "pixel") from a server we run. That request tells us which page you viewed, when, your IP address, and your browser and device type.
- When we email you: our email provider records whether each email was delivered or bounced. It may also record whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.
- When you email us: your email address and whatever you write.
We don't ask for your name, phone number, or payment information.
How we use it
We use your information only to run Cinemaxxing:
- Send the emails you signed up for, including occasional notes about Cinemaxxing itself, like a new feature.
- See which pages and listings people use, so we can improve the site.
- Keep the site and emails secure and working, like removing bounced addresses and blocking spam signups.
- Reply when you write to us, and comply with the law.
We don't sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We don't combine it with data from other sources to build a profile of you.
Who else sees it
We share information only with the services that run Cinemaxxing, and only what each one needs:
| Service | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Brevo | Delivers our emails | Your email address and delivery data for each email |
| Cloudflare | Hosts and protects the site | Your IP address and standard browser request data |
| The Movie Database (TMDB) | Serves movie poster images | Your IP address and browser info when posters load |
Our own servers, the images we host on alexwalker.co, and the network providers that carry traffic to them also see standard request data, like your IP address.
Ticket links go straight to theater websites, and film titles link to Letterboxd. We don't send them your information, and their own privacy policies apply once you leave Cinemaxxing. The same goes for our Instagram account.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety or our rights. If Cinemaxxing is ever transferred to new owners, the subscriber list would go with it, and they would have to honor this policy.
Cookies, tracking, and Do Not Track
Cinemaxxing doesn't use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or cross-site trackers. Cloudflare, which protects the site, may set a strictly necessary cookie to tell real visitors from bots.
We don't allow ad networks or analytics companies to track you through Cinemaxxing. The services listed above see your IP address only to deliver their part of a page, under their own privacy policies.
Because we don't track you across other sites, Cinemaxxing works the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. You can block our visit-counter pixel with a content blocker, and the site will still work.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe: use the link in any email, or write to [email protected]. We stop sending right away, and always within 10 business days.
- See, correct, or delete your information: email [email protected], and we'll respond within 30 days.
Anyone can use these options, wherever you live.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep your email address while you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep it only on a do-not-email list, so we don't email you again by mistake. If you'd rather we delete it completely, just ask.
Visit logs are kept only as long as they're useful for understanding traffic, then deleted or reduced to totals. Emails you send us are kept as long as we need them to help you.
Subscriber data is stored on a server we control and with Brevo, behind access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information. If a breach ever exposes it, we'll tell the subscribers affected.
Children
Cinemaxxing isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has subscribed, email [email protected] and we'll delete their information.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change meaningfully affects how we use subscribers' information, we'll email subscribers before it takes effect.
Questions or requests: [email protected].
